Mamluh Cave Expedition
Beneath the rain-drenched plateau of Sohra (Cherrapunji) lies a secret world that daylight has never touched. Mamluh Cave — known in Khasi as Krem Mamluh — is one of the longest caves in the Indian subcontinent, stretching over 4.5 kilometres through ancient limestone formations sculpted over millions of years. Stalactites hang like frozen chandeliers, underground streams whisper through cathedral chambers, and the air carries the cold, mineral scent of deep earth. This is Meghalaya from the inside out — raw, silent, and magnificent. Combined with the famous Mawsmai Cave (the most accessible cave in the region) and a dramatic walk through Nohkalikai gorge, this package is a must for those who seek the extraordinary hidden beneath the extraordinary.
- Guided expedition into Krem Mamluh — one of India's longest caves
- Mawsmai Cave — illuminated limestone passages
- Nohkalikai Falls viewpoint — India's tallest plunge waterfall
- Wei Sawdong Falls (Wei Sawdong Kynmaw) — tiered blue pools

- Professional caving gear & certified cave guide provided
- Overnight stay in Sohra with valley view
Wahkhen Bamboo Trek
Hidden deep in the East Khasi Hills, the village of Wahkhen guards one of Meghalaya's most extraordinary and least-visited trekking experiences. Unlike any other trail in the Northeast, the Wahkhen Bamboo Trek takes you through a surreal bamboo forest so vast and dense that even midday sunlight struggles to reach the forest floor — shafts of green light filter through towering culms that sway and creak softly overhead like a living temple. The trail follows ancient Jaintia footpaths along ridge lines, descends into river gorges carpeted in moss, and opens suddenly into bamboo meadows that feel like a secret the earth is whispering only to you. Local Jaintia guides lead the way, sharing stories of forest spirits, traditional bamboo craftsmanship, and the sacred relationship between the Jaintia people and the forest that has sustained them for centuries. Very few outsiders have walked this path — and that is exactly why you should.
- Full-day bamboo forest trail through ancient Khasi paths
- Hidden waterfall discovery — off-map, off-tourist-trail
- Village walk through Laitkynsew & Nongthymmai
- River crossing & barefoot boulder walk

Travel With Purpose
Visit a Local School & Touch a Child's World
Some of the most profound moments in travel don't happen at waterfalls or ancient caves — they happen in a small classroom in the hills, where a child's eyes light up at the sight of a visitor from the world beyond the mountains.
Give Back While You Travel
Meet the Children of the Clouds
The schools nestled in Meghalaya's hills are full of bright, curious children who rarely meet visitors from outside their village. A short visit — an hour, a morning — can leave an impression that lasts a lifetime. On both sides.
Cloudora Travels coordinates visits to local government and community schools near Mawlynnong, Nongriat, and Smit. Our team handles all permissions, logistics, and cultural protocols so your visit is respectful, joyful, and meaningful.
What Your Visit Can Include
- ✦ Sit in on a class — share your world, hear theirs
- ✦ Interactive storytelling, drawing, or simple games with children
- ✦ Hand-deliver books, stationery, or supplies you bring from home
- ✦ Donate directly to the school — we ensure 100% reaches the children
- ✦ Group photo & goodbye ceremony with the students
Most Needed Donations
We provide a donation receipt and photo documentation. Every contribution is transparently shared with the school and community.
"We believe travel is most beautiful when it gives back. A notebook gifted, a story shared, a smile exchanged — these are the moments that outlast every photograph."
— Pnryntihlang Rymmai, Founder, Cloudora Travels
The Souls Behind the Journey
Meet Your Guides & Managers
Every great journey needs a great storyteller. Ours are born from these mountains.
Founder & Lead Guide
Pynryntihlang Rymmai
Pnryntihlang — "Pyn" to his friends — was born in the hills of the East Khasi Hills district, where the forests were his first classroom. From the age of twelve, he was leading younger cousins through unmarked jungle trails, memorising the names of trees and the calls of birds that most people never get to hear.
After years guiding trekkers through Meghalaya's most remote terrain — from the cave systems of Jaintia Hills to the highland plateaus above Mawsynram — Pyn founded Cloudora Travels with a singular vision: to share the Meghalaya he grew up in, not just the one in guidebooks.
He speaks Khasi, Bengali, Hindi, and English, and has an encyclopaedic knowledge of tribal history, medicinal plants, and local folklore.
"Meghalaya doesn't need to be discovered. She just needs to be listened to."
Operations Manager & Cultural Guide
Banjop Khongshei
Banjop was born in Sder Village, nestled in the hills close to Kongthong — the legendary "Whistling Village of India", where every person is given a unique musical tune as their name instead of words. Growing up in the shadow of this extraordinary place gave Banjop a deep appreciation for the extraordinary that hides in the ordinary.
A trained hospitality professional and cultural guide, Banjop is the beating heart of Cloudora's operations — coordinating village homestays, managing logistics, and making sure every traveller feels not like a tourist passing through, but a guest who belongs. His easy warmth, quick laughter, and ability to make a bonfire story last till midnight are legendary among Cloudora's past guests.
He speaks Khasi, Hindi, English & Assamese fluently, and brings an infectious enthusiasm for sharing the magic of the Khasi Hills with everyone he meets.
"We don't want you to visit Meghalaya. We want you to belong here, even for a little while."

Traveller Stories
Words from Those Who Journeyed with Us
"Pyn took us to a waterfall that wasn't on any map. We stood there alone in the rain forest and cried — not from sadness, but from something breaking open inside us. Cloudora doesn't do tourism. They do transformation."
Mumbai • Honeymoon Trip
"Banjop arranged for us to stay with a family in Mawlynnong. That one night taught me more about life than a decade of travel. The grandmother made us a meal and sang a Khasi lullaby while we ate. I'll carry that memory forever."
Bangalore • Solo Explorer
"We brought 12 colleagues for a corporate retreat. Every detail — transfers, meals, the trek to the Root Bridge, the bonfire evening — was flawless. This team is deeply professional and deeply human. A rare combination."

Common Questions
Frequently Asked Questions
What is the best time to visit Meghalaya? +
October to May is ideal. Post-monsoon months (Oct–Dec) bring lush green landscapes and roaring waterfalls. Winter (Dec–Feb) is cool and clear — perfect for trekking. Spring (Mar–May) is great for photography and outdoor activities. Monsoon season (June–Sept) is dramatic but challenging for travel.
Can I customise my Meghalaya tour package? +
Absolutely — customisation is our speciality. You choose the destinations, duration, group size, accommodation style (luxury hotel or village homestay), activities, dietary preferences, and budget. We build the itinerary around you, not the other way around. WhatsApp us at +91 84140 55948 to get started.
What is included in your tour packages? +
All packages include accommodation, meals (as specified), local transport in private vehicles, professional English-speaking guides, and entry fees to listed attractions. Optional add-ons like camping, photography sessions, kayaking, and cultural evenings can be added to any package.
Do you offer village homestay experiences? +
Yes! Our village homestays place you with trusted local Khasi families in Mawlynnong, Nongriat, Smit, and Laitkynsew. You'll enjoy home-cooked tribal meals, evening storytelling, morning village walks, and a genuine connection with Meghalayan culture that no hotel can replicate.
How do I reach Meghalaya from outside the state? +
The nearest airport is Shillong Airport (SHL) or Guwahati Airport (GAU) in Assam, which has better connectivity. From Guwahati it's approximately 3–3.5 hours by road to Shillong. We arrange airport pickups from both airports. Trains run to Guwahati from most major Indian cities.
Is Meghalaya safe for solo and women travellers? +
Meghalaya is widely regarded as one of the safest states in Northeast India for all travellers, including solo women. The Khasi society is matrilineal — women hold a respected place in the culture, and visitors are welcomed warmly. Our guides accompany you throughout, and we maintain 24/7 support during all trips.
